Chad Knight
Chad could probably break me in two just by flexing his arm and definitely breaks himself every time he skates. Seriously, I filmed him twice one weekend and got two tricks and about twenty gnarly slams. Don't let that clean-cut shit full you! He is originally from Columbus, Ohio and I dont know how long he has been skating and all that stuff but i do know that when i was a teenager i used to see him at the skatepark in Columbus (Sun Sports) and he was just this little shit sponsored kid that was way better than me. He's still better than me only now his biceps are as big as my thighs! This guy was even on American Gladiator for crying out loud.
Here is some video of Chad and below that is his updates and other photos and all kinds of stuff.
This was just done by NSS recently.
Here is Chad's part from an old Osiris video called 'The Storm' from back in 99. Yeah to say Chad was ahead of his time was an understatement.
We all know how burly Chad's skating is. Here we have a segment when Chad was on Fuel TV's 'Built to Shred' segment. To say this is burly does not give this justice. Just watch...

Hello there fellow shredders. I just got back from jeff kings house which has been renamed shred ranch apporpriately. It's insane. If I've seen any of this season of built to shred you know what I mean. If you haven't I suggest you check it out on iTunes or YouTube. From what I just witnessed over there things will me even more ridiculous next season. I'm going to start helping jeff next week on a monstrous mini ramp type of beast. Stay tuned.

well i spent most of this week out of town where it was 7 degrees. It was pretty miserable and made me realize why i live in san diego. how did anyone ever even decide it was a good idea to settle there to begin with?? i would curse my ancestors and denounce my last name. come up with something new and cool like Chad Maximus. I guess Knight is pretty hard to beat though when theres names out there like Svitak and Nepshaw...
I did get to spend some time with a 15 yr old skater out there who had just received a skatepark in his backyard from the make-a-wish foundation. it was really cool seeing things like that happen. that there are people out there willing to dedicate there time and money to a kid that could use a little spirit lift... either way it put all of my problems into perspective real quick.
I have been back for a couple of days and have been skating with colin, my son, as syndrome a lot. Getting ready to go to SC for thanksgiving to visit my dad and stepmom. theres a few good parks near by so im going to try to slip away for a bit and do some shredding. until next time... laterz dudes.

well yesterday was my birthday, finally legal! i spent it skating in my neighborhood with the local kids. we ripped the streets. its raining in san diego today. such a rare occasion but its nice to not have to deal with feeling like i have to be outside "taking advantage of such a nice day". my son comes in tonight from australia too! hes been gone for 3 months so needless to say im freaking out to see him. i attached from pictures from the premier. it was pretty awesome i hear...

Here is the translation to the interview Chad did in the Japaneese version of Transworld. You can see the pics in the update below...
*Is this your first time in Japan?
If not, how many times have you been here?
I was in japan twice in 1997. We just attended a trade show though and didnt really do or see much.
*In which parts of Japan did you stay in? What was your purpose?
Okinawa, Misawa, Tokyo and Yokosuka. I came to Japan to do skatecamps at the US military bases with the children of parents who are deployed.
*Where was the most interesting place in Japan?
The most interesting place was by far the spot with all of the colored cement scrolls. I wish we had a spot like that here. The buddhist statues were insane too. I have always wanted to see those.
*You entered in the Super Skate Session, at the contest held in Chiba Maps. How was sessioning with Japanese skaters?
Yeah i didnt know i entered it until the awards... i thought i was just skating with the guys. The japanese skaters were awesome. They ripped super hard but were having a good time. But for all i know they could have been yelling at me to get out of their way, i wouldnt have had a clue.
*How were the kids that entered in the contest held at the Yokosuka base?
The kids were awesome! i was so stoked watching those kids. Ive never seen an Am. contest with manners!
*Do you ever teach your own child how to skate?
I try but he is just like me and likes slamming more than skating... but hes killing it at surfing, snowboarding and golf.
*How is your life like in San Diego?
My life in san diego is hectic. No day is ever the same. Ive got a lot of things going on; on top of filming and shooting photos every other day, and being a full-time college student. Its all good though. I thrive on being busy.
*At which spot do you skate the most and who do you skate with the most?
I skate at the Syndrome Dist (FKD) warehouse. Its usually just me and a few other people. Perfect situation. Plus occasionally you'll get a D Way or Duffy sighting. Thats always rad.
*We`re sure you`ve traveled around the world. Which Country stood out the most other than Japan?
Australia or for sure.
*What kind of place is it?
Nicest people, most beautiful girls and perfect weather. I need to go back! Plus meat pies are delicious.
*In the Osiris video `The Storm`, you landed numerous tricks on big stairs,
and won the Video part of the year. After that, you showed aggressive riding in videos, and we felt the same power filming with you in Japan. Where do you get such power?
Correction: Video of the Year, NOT Viedo Part of the Year... I just always liked jumping down stairs. Even just to my feet before i started skating... I think skating aggressively is just how i like to skate. I dont skate to go slow and do freestyle tricks... that just seems as appealing as doing homework to me.
*Do you take care of your body more since you are a pro skater?
I think I would do what I do regardless of if i was a pro skater or a secretary. Its important regardless just to feel good.
*It seems you love coffee, what kind is your favorite type?
So we jump from healthy to unhealthy... my favorite type is strong black espresso, iced preferably. I go to sleep at night excited to wake up and get coffee. That sounds pretty ridiculous.
*How did you get to know Kristian? What kind of relationship do you have with him?
We both grew up in Ohio. We skated together here and there but didnt become good friends until I started riding for 1031 in 2006. Since then we have grown to have a relationship that mostly consists of him trying to annoy me. like a bug in my ear. kristians awesome though. he has a lot of heart for skateboarding and it makes me stoked to ride for 1031.
*What do you have planned out for this year? Any other tours, videos?
Right now we are finishing up the 1031 dvd "Turn Up The Hell", premiering on Halloween night around the universe. Kristian, Ben Raybourn and I went to Woodward Skatecamp for a while too this summer after japan. I am also working on 2 pro NSS shoes and a tee line with Sullen Clothing. For the rest of the year I am just trying to do some interviews and film. Back to the streets...
*What was your impression of Go Ueda, who attended your filming trip?
Go Ueda is an interesting guy, part of a rare breed that still bleeds skateboarding and views it as a big family. I had a blast with him. Hes a funny guy too, even when hes not trying to be.
*Thank you Chad, any messages for your Japanese Fans?
I have fans??
end of transmission!

less than 2 weeks out until the premier! things are about to get fun. harbour, filmer jeff and more will be coming in for the showing. now i just have to figure out what to dress up as. i always have great ideas until i realize its halloween day and i havent put it together yet.
this week has no news. ive been laid out with the flu all week. trying to get better bf i leave for ireland on thusday. trying to muster the strength to go see W too! that movie looks amazing. anyway, ill try and get something more exciting for next week.
heres two awesome pictures for you to enjoy

These updates make me feel pretty boring... but i think dull for me is still way more exciting than 99% of people out there who work 9-5 then sit in their lazy boy 6-11...
I just got off the phone with Raybourn and found out he is coming out here on Monday. Should make for an exciting update next week. Ben is so fun to skate with and so fun to watch him stress out Kristian. Ben doesn't shower or wash his hands (ever) and Kristian is a clean freak. He puts a towel down in the car that Ben has to sit on. Its amazing to watch. Greg is supposedly coming in to town the next week. Its so nice to not have a team full of douche bags...
I also just found out I will be going to Ireland for a few days before the premier. Its going to rule! So if you are reading this and live in Ireland send me an email. chad@chadknight.com Im looking for some people to skate with. I have to help design a skatepark in Naas but am going out a few days early to shred.

Hey everyone. heres whats new in my always exciting life. I have moved and am living again with my old roommate Becca. I let her step daughter borrow my car when I was on tour over summer so she could get to work (being that her work is stripping i think she could have afforded to buy her own car but thats irrelevant). Becca's son stole my car and crashed into something and dented up the back fender. So instead of going through insurances, which has to involve police reports (did I mention her son is 13?), she just said I could move in and not pay rent for 6 months. Pretty sweet deal. Especially considering she went to culinary school, cooks all the time and refuses to eat leftovers. So I've been busy with moving and making her son as uncomfortable as possible.
Premier is in a few weeks so I'm psyched for that! Always a good time. plus Greg Harbor will be coming out and that dude rules to chill with.
It looks like I will be going to Ireland for 6 days to help a small town design a skatepark. Ireland is one of my top 4 places left to see so I'm very excited. I'm going to get me one of those leprechauns! FO SHO
In other interesting news, it turns out John McCain knows how to get Osama Bin Laben, as he stated last night! Doesn't it seem like him and "Dubya" have been looking for him for a few years now? What a senile fool.
My suggestion of the week is to go to fantasticcontraption.com its the best thing ever. For the last few days I've been super sick so I've successfully wasted over 40 hrs on there. Heres some proof.

last week was our first week of post-new-video-deadline-free-skate-time. I spent mine skating a 20 stair trying to perfect some moves for the NSS video. That's the next project for Dan, Kristian and me. I have to get these new moves down if I am going to take them to my mega gap. It's like the mage ramp but just straight drop to the ground. I'll have an image uploaded as soon as the blueprints are finalized. Other than that it was the same old thing... Just the average life of a 1031 pro... Banging penthouse models, taking private jets to spain, dining with the Prince of Dubai... boring shit that no one wants to hear about.

This week I went to New Mexico for a grand opening of a little skatepark. Fun stuff. Filmer Jeff came into town from Ohio and I've been shredding with him. It's nice to have some non-kooky filmers out here. Other than that I've been trying to get my damn license back, unsuspended...
I don't have anything else worth telling you people out there trying to waste time browsing the internet. So go check this out. It's awesome..

Last week was spent at Woodward West with Kristian and Ben. Ben almost got kicked out twice; once for rubbing his dirty, grimy, black hands on the counter of the canteen and refusing to clean it and again for sneezing on a volunteer dad's shirt and fleeing the scene. Luckily, Kristian and I were there so simmer things down. Felt a little too much like "My Two Dads" at times though... make sure to check out the video I made form the trip so you can go on the message boards and have something to make fun of... yes, I bet your grandma can edit better than me.
Woodward was my last trip of the summer. Feels awesome to be home and skate whatever the hell I want finally instead of just parks. Ben is still here and it is crunch time for the video so there no relaxing yet...
Did you know that a headlight fix it ticket that "slips your mind" can end up costing $706, a suspended license and get your car impounded? I didn't but thats why I love my life so much. I get to learn new things everyday!

Last week I was flew back from Japan. It's a 16 hr time difference. Getting used to it is like getting through a heroin detox. When I got home from Japan I slept for 20 hrs. Then was up at 3:30 am for the next 3 days. Totaling about 9 hrs of sleep for 3 days.
Then I went and did a grand opening at a park in Santa Cruz. I never realized how nice that area of ca is. I need to move.
Now I am at Woodward west with Ben and Kristian. I just got my macbook so we are going to try to do some videos for the web while we are here. Also, I hope to have a new little video up with my updates everyweek now. I'm sure I'll be the only one who thinks they are funny though.

I spent the last week in Yokosuka Japan. Kenny Anderson and Steve Nesser flew in for the last camp. It was cool to see some familiar faces and be able to skate with some people over the age of 13. Plus they brought a filmer and photographer with them. So after skating with the kids at camp from 12 to 4 we hit the streets. Well they were hitting the streets, I was more hitting the pavement... rather hard on most occasions.
The last 2 nights I went out with some of the Japan Transworld photo guys and busted my ass some more. I was trying to convince myself that this was an opprotunity that didn't present itself everyday as I drug myself, limping, from spot to spot. I really am overdramatic huh? Anyway, I'm super psyched on the stuff I got out there. Shouldbe at least 6 or 7 clips from my trip in the new video, "Turn Up the Hell".
This weekend I leave for Santa Cruz for a couple of days. Then Kristian and I will be at wooward west next week. So you'll have an update to read from both of us next time about the same thing! It should be interesting to see how different our two viewpoints will be. He's always having a good time, joking around while I'm about to slit my throat from having to deal with his smart ass for that long.

So Chad is in Japan and due to the time difference and Chad being one of us his updates have been a little late. However they are well worth the wait. So you here you go the last few days of Chad being in Japan complete with pictures!
#4 - 7/31
I had a blast in tokyo with the 1031 dist guys out here. They're really rad and we got a lot done. I did a demo the first day at TrickStar, which is a super good park. The owners are super rad too. Thanks for the team shirt guys! Then we went to an am contest the next day with a best trick contest for the local pros. I skated in it but I didnt know I was eligible... I didnt think i was allowed in it but i won it with tricks over the box to the hubba... believe that one! Me launching onto a hubba! I got 3 god tricks on film at street spots the next day and the japanese version of atiba shot it all. So thanks a ton to Go Ueda and Mishikawa for showing me your secret spots and not killing me with fish. All of the skate pictures and video should be coming soon...
On friday they're coming up to shoot the skatecamp and hopefully we will be able to find some spots up here in Yokosuka.
#3 - 7/27
In Misawa I survived the 6.8 earthquake. It was insane, my tv even walked out of the entertainment center and onto the floor in my hotel room. Pretty awesome but supposedly close to 100 people were injured. Ive also seen some pretty cool wanna be Jackie Chans with bleached orange hair, muscle shirts and short gym shorts.
The kids have been super hyped at all the bases over here. Tomorrow I am going to Tokyo where I will be hanging out with the 1031 Japanese distributor. Some demos and Japaneses mag photo shoots are lined up. On the 2nd I am doing a demo with Kenny Anderson and Nesser on Yokosuka Navy Base. Then home again... then to Santa Cruz, Woodward and Minnesota...

Last week I was in Okinawa, an island off of the souther tip of Japan, skating with the kids on base who have deployed parents in Iraq and Afganistan. I'm like the new Bob Hope of the USO show. Staying on the bases was a little cool ,but its hard to get a real feel for Japan when you are surrounded by marines... all of the kids were super excited. There were some real rippers too.
I just arrived in Misawa which is on the northern tip of Japan. Nice change of climate. its raining and 70 here and Okinawa is prob still 110 degrees. Right now im sitting in the computer room in the lobby of the hotel waiting to find out what im going to do today since its raining and the skatepark is outside. Maybe I'll try and find the big fat buddah statue that is supposedly in the mountains here... or a ninja outfit. I always wanted one of those. Hell, who didnt?

I had an awesome week I'd love to share with everyone. My old roomates son stole my can and was involved in a hit and run, the following week I got pulled over and found out I have a suspended license for a no show to a court appearance that I know nothing about. They impounded my car ; and my son and I got to walk around downtown SD and buy pirate hats and swords. Now, I am on a plane on my way to Japan. (Chad is going to Japan to do a bunch of demo. The editor )Just a small hiccup with the pilot yesterday pulling up 4 ft too short when the plane landed in SF so the little tunnel you walk through couldn't get to the door. So I sat on the plane and watched my connecting flight taxi the runway and fly away without me. Never a dull moment. I'll keep you updated weekly on rhe ridiculous events that constantly riddle my life.
